How are you involved in education?
Though I have not worked in the field of education, I have become increasingly aware of the gap that our current education system possesses and am actively pursuing knowledge and avenues to bring about change in the following areas – financial literacy, alternative paths of success, and personal reflection.
I’ve been conducting research, speaking with experts, and casually conversing with peers who feel that there is a huge opportunity to increase education in all those areas to help our kids make better, more informed decisions for their futures.
Have you ever attended an edcamp or unconference before?
What do you hope to get out of edcamp MetroDC?
I hope to meet with professionals in the education field who are like-minded and working towards improving our current education system. I am interested to learn about nationwide efforts in this arena, how organizations are breaking through, and the lessons learned and “best practices” in the pursuit of a more comprehensive education package.
If you led a session at edcamp MetroDC, what would you present?
The need for financial literacy, alternative paths of success, and personal reflection among high school students or younger.
