How are you involved in education?
In am currently in my tenth year teaching Spanish at Bullis School. Over the years my philosophy has adopted substantially as I have investigated ways to work less with the textbooks and more with the needs of the students. I am also heavily involved with diversity and equity issues. I am one of three co-chairs of the Diversity and Equity Committee, and I continue to work on ways to promote acceptance.
Have you ever attended an edcamp or unconference before?
This is my first time.
What do you hope to get out of edcamp MetroDC?
I am looking to share ideas with fellow educators in a collaborative atmosphere.
If you led a session at edcamp MetroDC, what would you present?
I would potentially look into showing how I have made both Spanish Honors III and Spanish IV textbook-free courses. Also, I would look into best practices around diversity and equity.
