How are you involved in education?

I’m a former HS English teacher, currently state-certified Reading Specialist, who writes the blog, teachmama.com which empowers parents to be the best teachers they can be for their children. Writing the blog has led to freelancing opportunities with PBS Parents, Scholastic Parents, readwritethink.org, and more.

Have you ever attended an edcamp or unconference before?

Yes! Last year was my first!

What do you hope to get out of edcamp MetroDC?

I love connecting with other people who are excited about technology and education, with other parents who actively support education, and with brands who support innovative ideas in the classroom and at home.

If you led a session at edcamp MetroDC, what would you present?

I could present on:
-blog writing 101
-using technology for home-school communication
-using social media platforms for connections and collaboration
-pinterest
-online safety

Register for edcamp MetroDC on April 5, 2014:
